Water as a Musical Touch Keyboard
Water Piano
Installation Dimensions: 1 m × 0.5 m
Materials: Water, containers (paper cups, glass cups, etc.), electronic board, cables with alligator clips, USB cable, computer, Makey Makey
Technology:
The installation uses a closed electrical circuit to send inputs to the computer equivalent to key presses or mouse clicks. The controller utilizes all 12 analog input pins of the 32U4 microcontroller, along with a matrix of pull-up resistors, to detect the low voltage returned by conductive materials such as water or fruit skins. This microcontroller can be easily configured as a USB-HID device, functioning as a keyboard, joystick, or mouse. The hardware design is similar to that of the Arduino Leonardo, with added pull-up resistors and indicator LEDs. Thanks to this similarity, Makey Makey is compatible with numerous devices and is fully programmable.
